East Lansing Police Department rejects the demands of the MSU Community

Town Hall called for Thursday to organize further action

East Lansing, MI, October 29, 2014: This morning two members of the MSU community, Crystal Gause and Rashad Timmons, met with Juli Liebler, East Lansing Chief of Police. The meeting was arranged to answer the demands presented by protesters who marched on the police station last week. After cancelling a meeting on Tuesday due to alleged sickness, Ms. Liebler finally met with Gause and Timmons on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. Liebler informed them that the East Lansing Police Department would meet none of the demands presented by the protesters. This includes demands well within reach of the ELPD, such as officers wearing body cams and issuing a public condemnation of the excessive violence used by the police in Ferguson, Missouri.
